Receptionist : Good afternoon. Royal Standard Hotel. Can I help you?

Sébastien : Good afternoon. I’d like to reserve a room for a week in August, please. Arriving on the 8th August and leaving on the 15th.

Receptionist : Certainly, sir. I think we still have some rooms available, although it is our high season. What kind of room would you like?

Sébastien : I’d like a room for 2 people, please.

Receptionist : Double bed, or twin beds, sir?

Sébastien : Double bed, please. And could you tell me what kind of facilities the hotel has?

Receptionist : Certainly, sir. We can offer a range of meeting rooms and business facilities, including food and drink and unlimited Wi-Fi. Is your stay on business, sir?

Sébastien : No, we’re coming for a holiday.

Receptionist : In that case, we provide a fitness room and sauna, as well as 2 bars and a restaurant with a full dinner menu. We also have a very convenient location right in the centre of London, within walking distance of Chinatown and the West End, with all its theatres, cinemas and clubs.

Sébastien : Yes, that sounds very good. How much is a double room per night?

Receptionist : Without breakfast, the room costs £185 a night. How long did you say you wanted to stay?

Sébastien : For 7 nights, starting on the 8th August, please. Do you offer a discount for a longer stay?

Receptionist : I’m very sorry, sir. All our prices are fixed by the local hotel administration. That comes to £1,295 in total. Will you require a space to park your car?

Sébastien : No, thank you. Do you need me to send written confirmation?

Receptionist : Don’t worry, sir. That’s not necessary. If you’re happy to book the room, we can confirm it over the phone. I’ll just need to take your name, address, email, a contact telephone number and your credit card number.

Sébastien : My credit card? Do you want me to pay in advance?

Receptionist : No, sir. It’s just to guarantee the reservation. We won’t charge you any money before you arrive. Do you want to proceed and book the room?

Sébastien : Yes, please. My name is Sébastien Rivault. That’s R-I-V-A-U-L-T.

Receptionist : Thank you, Mr Rivault. Can you give me the first line of your address?

Sébastien : No problem. It’s number 24, rue de Rivoli. That’s R-U-E. New word, D-E. New word, R-I-V-O-L-I.
